Back in 1970, I was DJ’ing in the Youth clubs and won the award “ Best Young DJ in West Yorkshire” award in 1971.
I started working in clubs and pubs back in 1974 with various bands, but mainly “Wishing Well” who performed chart hits of the time and of course 50’/ 60’s hits.
In the early 80’s, I not only worked in the trio but also in a drums/ guitar duo “Him & Slim” and “New Reflections”, I also branched out as a solo artist “Alan Lodge”.
Moving on from there, I worked with top musicians in the duo “Turner and Lodge” with the late Chris Turner who had been the bassist with both Jimmy James and the Vagabonds & Gerry and the Pacemakers. I have also worked alongside Sean and Kevin Fitzpatrick, who also worked with Gerry Marsden for more than 20 years. Another notable musician I was pleased to work with back in the 1990’s was Ray Bainbridge in the duo “Experience”.
I led “The Heat” between 2010 and 2022, and prior to that, in a band called “Mid-Life Crisis”.
I have worked continually from 1979/80 onwards as a self-contained Guitar/ Vocalist and back in 2016 and 2018, I was awarded the title of best Guitar/vocalist in the Huddersfield area by the Concert secretaries of Huddersfield.
Although I’m not a great reader, I am more than an adequate busker and can do dep work on guitar. I also have a great attitude to work, always arrive on time, dress for the occasion, converse with the audience and, generally, can read an audience well.
I was a pub landlord between 1996 and 2019 and I still performed weekly in the band or solo and I therefore fully understand both sides of the entertainment business.
